Homework is to complete the Geography foldable if not yet done. Remember to show your Example Current Event to Mrs. Mapson, and always pay attention to the news.

In class, we will take notes on BOLTSS, MR HELP, and Absolute Location. We will use an orange to discuss problems of mapping and to illustrate how the Global Grid works.
Homework is to catch up on your outstanding assignments: Geography Foldable, Example Current Event, Letter to Mrs. Mapson, and 2 notebooks. Remember to pay attention to the news.

In class, we will begin our first mapping assignment. We will discuss how to use a compass for orientation, how to measure scale on a map, and how to recognize and use symbols. If weather permits, we will conduct class outside, and behavior must be appropriate.

Some classes still need to sign up for supplies, jobs, and current event presentation dates. Then, we will review the directions for current events, have an example presentation, and work on writing current event reflections.
Homework is to correct the letter to Mrs. Mapson and return it for an improved grade. Signed syllabus forms are due, as are one notebook for Social Studies and one notebook to be used as a planner for all classes. Some students should bring in the supply they signed up for. Finally, it is always your homework to pay attention to the news.

All students are required to keep a composition book for Social Studies only, and a daily planner for all classes. You will record your notes, homework assignments, standards, and other important information in your social studies notebook. The planner is for homework and communication with home. Mrs. Mapson will check it periodically for a grade. If it is impossible for you to buy a notebook or planner, see Mrs. Mapson at lunch or break to get one. Some classes also have the homework of remembering their name game word and action.
